Byte Craft Announces SXC Code Development System V2.0

Waterloo, Ontario Canada, August 23, 2000 - Byte Craft Limited announced today the immediate release of Version 2.00 of the SXC Code Development System, the first full-featured C compiler for the Scenix SX series of high speed microcontrollers.

SXC V2.00 adds support for the Scenix SX48BD and SX52BD parts to existing support for SX18AC, SX28AC and SX28AC.

New language features include support for fixed point and single bit types and new int types which allow the developer to unambiguously declare 8, 16, 24 and 32-bit int variables.

The SXC Code Development System includes an optimizing C cross-compiler with an inline macro-assembler, libraries, full program optimization with BClink Optimizing Linker and the BCLIDE (Integrated Development Environment).

Other SXC features include a powerful set of memory management techniques. The SPECIAL memory directive lets you make the most of variables in all types of external memory: available LCD controller RAM, I2C memory, EEPROM and Flash. The LOCAL memory directive lets you maximize the use of RAM, direct the placement of local variables, re-use RAM locations, and pass multiple arguments to functions. Named address spaces make organize data in RAM easy and intuitive.

SXC Code Development System takes advantage of the unique features available in the SX microcontroller, including virtual peripheral technology. Developers can use example code to easily build virtual peripherals. The SXC supports user defined virtual device drivers and standard virtual device libraries.
